[Signal] is Psientโs first attempt at bridging cellular systems with sound and music, creating an EP based on atomic force microscopy-obtained samples of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, more commonly known as baker's yeast. The majority of the instruments used in the EP feature 'bio-digital instruments,' which are made using yeast sound samples that have been stretched, manipulated, and mangled. Side A includes ambient works that will accompany an eponymous exhibition at the Paradise Cultural Foundation from May 20-29th, 2022. Side B features two tracks designed for dance floors.
