앨범 소개

[시그널]은 세포 시스템을 음악과 소리로 엮어내고자 한 작가의 첫 시도로, 흔히 제빵용 효모로 알려져 있는 시카로마이세스 세로비시에 (Saccharomyces cerevisiae)의 원자력 현미경 추출 샘플에 기반한 이피반 레코드(EP)의 형식을 지닌다. EP에 등장하는 대부분의 기기는 ‘바이오-디지털 악기'로, 확장, 조작, 그리고 훼손을 거친 효모 사운드 샘플로 제작한 것이다. A면은 파라다이스 문화재단이 작품명과 동일한 [시그널]이라는 제목으로 개최하는 전시 (2022년 5/20~29)에 출품된 앰비언트 음악을 담고 있으며, B면에는 두 곡의 댄스음악이 실려 있다.

[Signal] is Psient’s first attempt at bridging cellular systems with sound and music, creating an EP based on atomic force microscopy-obtained samples of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, more commonly known as baker's yeast. The majority of the instruments used in the EP feature 'bio-digital instruments,' which are made using yeast sound samples that have been stretched, manipulated, and mangled. Side A includes ambient works that will accompany an eponymous exhibition at the Paradise Cultural Foundation from May 20-29th, 2022. Side B features two tracks designed for dance floors.
