'Jay Kim (제이킴)'에게 있어 음악가로서 자신의 삶을 지탱하고 유지시켜온 음악, 사운드가 무엇인지를 선명하게 보여주는 청사진같은 앨범 [Sound of Life]

R&B, 펑크(Funk), 디스코(Disco)등 흑인음악을 지속적으로 추구해오고 있는 국내 간판 밴드인 'COMMON GROUND (커먼그라운드)'의 창단멤버이자 리더인 색소포니스트 'Jay Kim (제이킴)'이 오래간만에 자신의 솔로 리더작을 만들어냈습니다.
2011년도에 공개되었던 [Perfect Experience] 이후 만 11년만에 새롭게 공개되는 신작인 셈인데, 그가 자신의 솔로 앨범에서 들려주는 음악은, 장르적인 큰 틀에서 보면 커먼그라운드에서 들려주던 음악과 맥락이 어느 정도 이어지지만, 세부적인 접근으로는 분명 다른 결과의 지향점을 갖고 있습니다. 일반적으로 'Jay Kim (제이킴)'의 솔로앨범은 팝 퓨전, 스무드 재즈(Smooth Jazz)라고 이야기할 수 있는데, 거의 대부분 보컬이 전혀 참여하지 않은 인스트루먼틀 위주의 곡들로 채워집니다. - 김희준(MMJAZZ 편집장) 라이너 노트 발췌
