Electronic Music Artist sesåme Releases Latest Techno EP, [Pluto]

[Seoul, August 30] – Electronic music artist sesåme’s latest EP, [Pluto] showcases sesåme’s uncanny ability to produce hard core techno beats that move the body, yet resonate with drama and intensity.

sesåme’s artistry is further showcased in the reimagining and careful curation of his compositions. At the heart of the release lies ‘Pluto II,’ a dramatic and sprawling evolution of the opening track. The centrality of ‘Pluto II’ can be defined in two distinct senses. In the first sense, it is perhaps the most impressive track on the album both sonically, and musically. The influence of maestro Vangelis on the compositional cues of the track are almost as immediately recognizable as the unmistakable sound of the Juno 60 synthesizer and the TR-909 drum machine. Even so, it is clear that a single track could not shine so brightly on its own. This is the second sense in which ‘Pluto II’ is central. It is central in the sense that it makes inclusion of the other tracks necessary.

The third track, ‘TITAN (genesis)’, strips down the fifth track to its essence, offering a fresh initial perspective on its sonic core. The sixth track, ‘TITAN (undriven)’, is a clean mix of the fifth track, delivering a pristine rendition of the music's raw emotion. ‘TReS-2b’, the fourth track, commands attention as the EP's most intense offering. It is likely reflective of sesåme’s own emotional experiences at the celebration of his previous release, during which the unexpected discovery of a building fire was followed by mass panic (fortunately, nobody was harmed).

sesåme explains the thematic elements of his latest release:

Pluto, the planet which rules Scorpio, is traditionally associated with darkness, death, and loss. But it’s by facing the darkness that we experience transformation and come closer to becoming our true selves. Despite how it might seem, my focus isn’t just on the darkness itself, but on the hope for what’s on the other side. The key word for me is transformation. I think that’s most representative of where I am on my journey as an artist, and of the kind of impact I want to have. That’s why this project is very significant.

Marking his third EP, [Pluto] follows sesåme’s previous techno release, a double single titled [BABYLON]. [Pluto] is the second chapter in sesåme’s reemergence, cementing his place as a trailblazer in the electronic music scene both in Seoul and abroad.

[서울, 8월 30일] – 일렉트로닉 뮤직 아티스트 sesåme의 최신 EP [Pluto]는 sesåme의 놀라운 능력을 보여주는 트랙 들을 선보인다. 이 트랙들은 몸을 움직이게 만드는 동시에 드라마틱 하고 감정의 강렬함을 전달한다.

sesåme의 예술성은 그의 작곡의 정교한 재구성과 세심한 큐레이션을 통해 더욱 돋보인다. 이 앨범의 핵심은 ‘Pluto II’라는 트랙으로, 오프닝 트랙의 드라마틱 하고 확장된 진화를 보여주는 트랙이다. ‘Pluto II’의 중요성은 두 가지 관점에서 정의할 수 있다. 첫째로, 음향적으로나 음악적으로 이 앨범에서 가장 인상적인 트랙일 것이다. 3번 트랙 ‘TITAN (genesis)’은 5번 트랙의 핵심을 가져와 음향적 본질을 새로운 관점으로 제시한다. 6번 트랙 'TITAN (undriven)'은 5번 트랙을 깔끔하게 믹스하여 원곡의 순수한 감정을 선명하게 표현했다. 4번 트랙 ‘TReS-2b'는 이번 EP에서 가장 강렬한 트랙으로, sesåme의 이전 릴리즈 기념행사에서 겪은 예상치 못한 건물 화재로 인한 대규모 혼란(다행히도 아무도 피해를 입지 않음)을 반영하는 것으로 보인다.

sesåme는 앨범 주제를 다음과 같이 설명한다:

“전통적으로 전갈자리를 지배하는 행성인 명왕성은 어둠, 죽음, 상실과 관련이 있습니다. 그러나 우리가 어둠에 마주하면 변화를 경험하고 진정한 우리 자신에게 다가갈 수 있습니다. 저는 어둠 그 자체에만 초점을 맞추는 것이 아니라 그 너머에 있는 희망에 집중하고 있습니다. 저에게 있어 가장 중요한 키워드는 ‘변화’입니다. ‘변화’는 저의 음악적 여정에서 가장 대표적이며, 아티스트로서 남길 영향을 가장 잘 나타낸다고 생각합니다. 그래서 이 프로젝트는 저에게 매우 의미가 큽니다.”

[Pluto]는 sesåme의 세 번째 EP로, 이전의 테크노 더블 싱글 [BABYLON]에 이어 발매한 앨범이다. [Pluto]는 sesåme의 재등장의 두 번째 단계로서 서울은 물론 해외 일렉트로닉 뮤직 씬의 선구자로 자리매김한다.
