Lacuna(라쿠나) DS [I Want To Be With You(我想和你一起)]

'I Want to Dance in the Rain, with You'는 청춘과 여름을 노래하는 한국 밴드 Lacuna (라쿠나)와 얼터너티브 팝을 기반으로 인디 팝, 신스팝, 록, 디스코, 펑크를 혼합하여 차분하고 로맨틱한 분위기를 구현하는 대만 밴드 Wendy Wander(溫蒂漫步)의 리메이크 콜라보레이션 프로젝트이다.

2023년 대만 타이베이에서 열린 CHAU CHAU Vol.6 공연에서의 만남을 시작으로 언어의 장벽을 넘어 음악으로 친구가 된 두 팀. 그를 계기로 각 팀의 대표곡인 '我想和你一起'와 '춤을 춰요'를 각자의 음악적 스타일로 리메이크하며 본 콜라보레이션을 성사시켰다.

Lacuna (라쿠나)는 '我想和你一起'를 그들만의 스타일로 대담하고 다채롭게 재해석했다. 특히 이 곡을 한국어로 번안하여 새로운 해석의 층을 더한 점이 주목할 만하다. 장경민은 원곡의 감정과 언어적 구조를 세심하게 재구성하며 라쿠나의 음악적 문법으로 자연스럽게 변환시켰다.

또한, 악기 편곡은 원곡보다 더 강렬하고 도전적인 기타 사운드, 기본적인 틀을 유지하면서도 다채로움을 더한 베이스라인, 그리고 웅장한 심벌즈를 특징으로 한다. 이러한 요소들에 기반하여 '라쿠나스러운' 'I Want To Be With You(我想和你一起)'를 과감하고도 세심하게 재창조해 냈다.

Wendy Wander는 '춤을 춰요'의 분위기와 콘셉트에 매료되어 이 곡을 리메이크하였다. 특히 한국어에 익숙한 여성 보컬 Jenny가 본 리메이크 싱글의 메인 보컬을 맡아 감성적인 목소리로 새로운 스타일과 분위기를 불어넣었다.
Wendy Wander 버전의 'Dancing in the rain(춤을 춰요)'에서는 신시사이저 톤에서 오는 몽환적이고 신비로운 느낌을 강하게 느낄 수 있다. 이는 이 곡의 감상 포인트이자 Wendy Wander의 음악 스타일을 정의하는 중요한 요소로, 악기 편곡에서도 그들 특유의 음악적 색깔을 엿볼 수 있다.

The collaboration project 〈I Want to Dance in the Rain, with You〉 features the Korean band Lacuna (라쿠나), who sing about youth and summer, and Wendy Wander（溫蒂漫步）, a Taiwanese band features duo lead vocalists, foundation of alternative pop music and blending with indie pop, synth pop, rock, disco and funk, known for the unique chill and romantic vibe in their music.
Their journey began with a meeting at the CHAU CHAU Vol.6 concert held in Taipei, Taiwan, 2023, where they became friends through music, overcoming the language barrier.
Inspired by this encounter, each team remade their representative songs, 我想和你一起 and 춤을 춰요, in their own musical style to bring this collaboration to life.

Lacuna boldly and diversely remaked '我想和你一起' in their own style. Notably, they adapted the song into Korean, adding a fresh layer to its interpretation. Jang Kyung-min carefully reassembled the emotions and linguistic structure of the original, seamlessly transforming it into Lacuna's musical language.

Additionally, the arrangement features a more intense and daring guitar sound compared to the original, and a bass line that maintains the basic framework while adding variety, along with the grandeur of the cymbals. These elements have reimagined the song in a bold, new way.

When deciding which song to remake, Wendy Wander members are fascinated by the vibe and the concept of “Dancing in the rain”. Since Jenny - the female vocalist of Wendy Wander is familiar with Korean, the band decided to let Jenny be the main vocalist in this remake single, through her sentimental voice to bring this song a brand new style and vibe.

For the instrument arrangement, it is also very Wendy Wander signature. Listeners can find the psychedelic and mysterious feeling in this version of “Dancing in the rain” mostly comes from the tones of synthesizer, which is also a listening point and an important element to build up the style of Wendy Wander’s music.
