Études: Triptych은 윤연준이 작곡, 연주, 기획한 다섯 개의 EP로 이루어진 연작 앨범이다. 각 EP는 쇼팽과 필립 글래스의 연습곡을 출발점으로 삼아, 윤연준 자신의 작품으로 완성되는 삼면화(triptych) 형식을 따른다. 이 시리즈는 디지털 시대의 정밀함에 인간의 몸과 감각을 다시 불어넣으며, 음악이 장소와 기억, 감각으로부터 어떻게 탄생하는지를 탐색한다.

연작 앨범의 두번째 EP인 Pentachrome은 영국 이스트 서섹스의 코티마키 정원에 내리친 폭풍우 속에서 시작되었다. F음을 중심으로 다섯 개 음이 교차하는 구조를 떠올렸고, 바람과 빗방울이 얽히는 패턴은 단순한 음형으로 정제되었다. 단순한 모티브로 출발하여 반복과 연습을 통해 완성했다.

윤연준은 서울에서 우연히 마주한 고휘 작가의 작업에서 Pentachrome과 닮은 결을 발견했고 이는 새로운 비주얼 협업으로 이어졌다. 고휘가 윤연준의 곡에서 받은 영감을 바탕으로 만든 제너러티브 디지털 작업 Struere from 16 Points를 본 EP의 커버 이미지와 뮤직비디오로 공개한다.

이번 협업은 음악과 이미지, 자연과 기하, 감각과 추상의 순환 속에서 현대 예술과 일상 청취의 경계를 유연하게 넘나든다.

Études: Triptych is a five-part EP series composed, performed, and curated by Yeonjoon Yoon. Each EP follows a triptych form: beginning with études by Chopin and Philip Glass, and culminating in a new étude by Yoon. The series seeks to rediscover the body and senses within the precision of the digital age—rooted in discipline, repetition, and memory.

Pentachrome, the second EP in the series, began in a storm at the Kotimaki garden in East Sussex, UK. There, Yoon imagined a five-note structure centered around F, as the patterns of wind and rain were translated into musical motifs. These elemental gestures became the foundation of the composition.

In Seoul, Yoon serendipitously encountered the work of visual artist Kohui, whose approach to nature and sound resonated with Pentachrome. Kohui responded to the music with a generative digital work titled Struere from 16 Points. This piece serves as both the EP’s cover artwork and its music video.

The collaboration moves between nature and geometry, image and sound—blurring the lines between listening and seeing, structure and spontaneity.
