앨범 소개

2023년, 이태원 Cakeshop에서 있었던 bojvck의 데뷔 무대가 있던 날, CYRRCA와 bojvck은 만나게 되었습니다. 두 사람은 고전적인 Ghetto-tech anthem에 대한 공통된 사랑으로 금새 친구가 되었습니다. 둘의 콜라보레이션 "DDA RA HAE"을 통해, 한국어와 영어가 번갈아 나오는 CYRRCA의 보컬과 bojvck의 강렬한 Ghetto-tech 프로덕션으로, 두 사람의 재능이 가장 돋보일 수 있는 트랙을 완성했습니다.

CYRRCA and bojvck met in 2023 after bojvck's Cakeshop debut in Itaewon. The two soon forged a friendship over a shared love of classic Ghetto-tech anthems. Their collaboration, “DDA RA HAE”, puts each of their talents on full display, with CYRRCA's vocals alternating Korean and English over bojvck's fierce Ghetto-tech production

CYRRCA - “디트로이트에서 자란 저는, 2000년대에 클럽에 자주 가곤 했습니다. 당시 디트로이트에서 들을 수 있던 음악은, DJ Assault와 Mr. De' 같은 디트로이트 로컬 프로듀서들의 게토 테크 트랙이 Daft Punk, 디트로이트 테크노, 힙합 등과 함께 플레이 되어, 제가 가장 좋아하는 댄스플로어의 추억으로 남아 있습니다. 시간이 조금 흐른 2023년, 스케이터로 보이는 키가 큰 디제이가 디트로이트 게토 테크와 자신의 오리지널 트랙을 섞어 플레이하는 것을 보고 정말 놀랐습니다. 그의 세트가 끝난 후에 그와 이야기를 나누었는데, 그날은 마침, 그가 DJ 데뷔를 한 날이라는 것을 알게 되었습니다. 우리는 음악에 대해서, 디트로이트와 서울의 클럽 씬에 대한 이야기를 나누며, 함께 협업할 기회가 있을 거라는 예감을 했고, 그렇게 “DDA RA HAE”를 통해 협업을 실현한 것에 정말 흥분했습니다.

저는 bojvck에게 CYRRCA 보컬 샘플을 건네주었고, 그는 "DDA RA HAE"의 초기 버전을 몇 개 만들어냈습니다. 몇 번의 세션을 거치면서, 우리는 곡의 편곡과 세부 사항을 함께 작업하며, 곧 트랙의 형태를 완성해나갔습니다. bojvck이 직접 믹싱하고, AB Room의 bk!의 마스터링을 거쳐 곡이 완성되었습니다.”

CYRRCA - “I grew up going to clubs in Detroit in the 2000’s. The music in Detroit at that time created some of my best dance floor memories, with Ghetto-tech tracks by local Detroit producers like DJ Assault and Mr. De’ mixed into sets alongside Daft Punk, Detroit Techno and Hip Hop. I was mind-blown when years later I saw this young, tall Korean skater kid playing original tracks mixed in with Detroit Ghetto-tech in Itaewon in 2023. I chatted with him after his set (it turns out it was his debut) and we chatted about music and the Detroit and Seoul club scenes. I think we both had a feeling we would collaborate at some point and I’m stoked we made it happen on “DDA RA HAE”.

I gave bojvck a sampling of CYRRCA vocals to work with and he cooked up some early versions of “DDA RA HAE”. We met up for a few sessions and worked on the arrangement and details. Soon we had the track wrapped up. Bojvck did the mix himself and snuck it into one of his sets at Cakeshop to check the mix while I listened on the dance floor. The sonics were on point so we passed the track along to bk! at AB Room to put finishing touches on the master and the rest is history.”
