“새타령 Bird”는 이날치가 Luaka Bop을 통해 선보이는 EP 『떴다 저 가마귀 Here Comes That Crow』의 두 번째 선공개 싱글이다. 고전 판소리 대목 「새타령」에서 영감을 받은 곡으로, 새들이 가득한 자연의 풍경과 물소리, 산의 울림을 한국어 특유의 의성어와 리듬감으로 생생하게 풀어낸다.
이번 곡은 기존에 OST를 통해 소개되었던 “새타령”을 현재의 이날치 멤버들과 함께 새롭게 녹음한 버전이다. 판소리의 서사와 발성을 기반으로 하면서도, 두 대의 베이스와 드럼이 만들어내는 강렬한 그루브, 사이키델릭한 리프, 그리고 네 명의 보컬이 주고받는 에너지가 더해져 이날치만의 독창적인 사운드로 재탄생했다.
“새타령 Bird”는 판소리의 전통적 소재를 현대적인 밴드 사운드로 확장하는 이날치의 음악적 정체성을 잘 보여주는 곡이다. 새와 산, 물이 만들어내는 자연의 움직임을 유쾌하고도 압도적인 리듬으로 표현하며, 전통과 동시대적 감각이 충돌하고 결합하는 순간을 선명하게 들려준다.

“Bird” is the second pre-release single from Leenalchi’s EP 『Here Comes That Crow』, released via Luaka Bop. Inspired by the classic pansori passage “Saetaryeong,” the song vividly depicts a natural landscape filled with birds, flowing water, and resonant mountains, using the distinctive onomatopoeia and rhythmic qualities of the Korean language.
This new version of “Bird” is a re-recording of a song previously introduced through an OST, now performed with Leenalchi’s current lineup. While rooted in the narrative structure and vocal techniques of pansori, the track is reborn with Leenalchi’s singular sound: powerful grooves driven by two basses and drums, psychedelic riffs, and the dynamic energy exchanged among four vocalists.
“Bird” captures Leenalchi’s musical identity as a band that expands traditional pansori materials into contemporary band music. With playful yet overwhelming rhythm, the song brings to life the movements of birds, mountains, and streams, creating a vivid moment where tradition and contemporary sensibility collide and merge.
