[Song Review]

01 Nami, the Tidecaller
소금과 가야금으로 원곡에서의 Nami의 신비로움을 담아내고, 중간의 가야금 변형 산조 선율로 바다의 유연하고 역동적인 움직임을 표현하였다.
The sogeum and gayageum embody the mystic quality of Nami in the original piece, while the gayageum variation in the middle of the piece portrays the fluid and dynamic movements of the sea.

02 Ornn, The Fire Beneath The Mountain
원곡은 두 가지 상반된 특징을 보여주는데, 거친 캐릭터를 묘사한 여러 타악기의 음색이 아주 두드러지면서도, 한편으로는 동양적이며 부드러운 선율이 흐르는 특징이 있다. 감상자들은 동양적이며 부드러운 선율을 연주하는 여러 국악기의 매력을 느낄 수 있을 것이며, 특히 도입부에서는 소금의 애절하면서도 아름다운 독주가 청중들의 귀를 사로잡을 것이다. 곡의 중·후반부부터는 장구, 꽹과리, 징으로 연주되는 느린 자진모리 장단이 자연스럽게 곡에 묻어나도록 편곡하였다.
The original piece has two contrasting characteristics as it features the tones of various percussion instruments to depict wild characters while maintaining an oriental and mellow melody. Listeners will be able to appreciate the appeal of different traditional instruments that play the oriental and mellow melody. The mournful yet beautiful melody of the sogeum solo in the introduction is particularly ear-catching. The middle and last parts of the piece were arranged to gradually transition into the slow jajinmori jangdan performed by the janggu, kkwaengwari, and jing.

03 The Curse of the Sad Mummy
생황으로 고독과 슬픔을, 해금으로 영원히 이해받지 못하는 외로운 존재를 표현하며, 원곡이 가진 정서를 최대한 살리면서 전체적으로 몽환적이고 신비로운 분위기를 표현하고 있다.
The saenghwang represents solitude and sadness, while the haegeum depicts a lonely soul that no one will ever understand. The piece captures the emotion of the original song as much as possible while creating a dreamlike and mystical atmosphere.

04 Elementalist Lux
원곡에 등장하는 신비로운 목소리를 여창 가객(한국 전통 성악 장르)이 담당하도록 배치하였으며, 가장 큰 기본이자 뼈대가 되는 피아노의 움직임을 가야금 주법으로 변경시켰다. 가객의 주선율과 가야금의 반주 이외에도, 대금, 소금, 피리, 해금이 주선율과 대선율을 유기적으로 연주한다. 원곡의 신디사이저 사운드를 조금 덜어내고 밴드의 역할을 늘렸으며 스트링 앙상블이 배경을 받치게 하여 국악기의 여러 음색과 국악적인 주법이 드러날 수 있도록 편곡하였다.
The mystical voice from the original song was sung by a female gagaek (a traditional Korean opera genre), and the piano movement, which forms the foundation of the original song, was replaced by the gayageum. In addition to the main melody of the gagaek and the gayageum accompaniment, the daegeum, sogeum, piri, and haegeum organically play the main melody and countermelody. The synthesizer sounds from the original song were partly replaced by the band sound, which was complemented by the string ensemble in the background to highlight the diverse tones and techniques of traditional Korean instruments.
