앨범 소개

주영과 만동이 함께한 이 앨범에서 두 이름의 흔적을 직접적으로 찾기란 쉽지 않다. 이번 작업은 기존의 장르적 문법이나 역할 구분이 제거된 상태에서, 네 명의 멤버가 만들어낸 충돌과 그 과정에서 남은 흔적들에 가깝다. 빠르고 혼란한 도시 서울이라는 환경 속에서, 이들이 포착한 것은 특정한 메시지라기보다 혼잡한 시대를 지나며 느껴온 감각이다. 서로 합을 맞추는 과정에서 드러난 생각과 감정들이 앨범 전반에 흩어져 있다.

멤버 개개인의 모습 또한 이전 작업들과는 다른 방식으로 재정렬되어 있다. 주영은 곡마다 서로 다른 보컬의 질감과 태도를 드러내고, 서경수(드럼), 함석영(기타), 송남현(베이스)는 각기 다른 밴드 활동을 통해 축적해 온 감각을 바탕으로 안정과 불안을 오가는 사운드를 이룬다.

앨범은 즉흥적인 잼을 통해 사운드의 재료를 수집하고, 공연에서 먼저 구조와 에너지를 검증한 뒤 스튜디오 프로덕션으로 정리되는 순환 과정을 거쳤다. 이 과정에서 고딕 록, 크라우트 록, 포스트 펑크의 흔적들이 자연스럽게 스며들었고, 격렬한 감정은 다듬어지고, 서로 다른 요소들은 위태롭게 섞여 있다. 우울과 분노, 희미한 희망과 즐거움이 엉키고 흩어지며, 음산하면서도 묘한 분위기를 만들어낸다.

Formed in the summer of 2025, fish dish is a collision between R&B artist Jooyoung and jazz based alternative band Mandong. Leaving their previous identities behind, they came together to construct a new, visceral soundscape for Seoul.
The project originated from a nightmare experienced by the band: a solitary cook working in a restaurant amidst the debris of a ruined, future Seoul. This imagery became the blueprint for their sound.
The music was more like excavated. The process began with raw improvisation, evolved through live performances tour throughout the country, and was finally refined in the studio. Through this workflow, elements of Gothic Rock, Krautrock, and Post-Punk naturally surfaced, creating a texture that is angular yet hypnotic.
Their debut album, [Missing Tooth], is a direct response to life in the city. The title refers to the gaps left by survival—whether a tooth is lost to violence, decay, or accident, the void remains. It is a record of the "missing" parts of Seoul, delivered with a sound that is ominous, precise, and undeniably real.
