This song is about a chaotic but strangely beautiful weekend in Osaka.
It started as a small escape. My mother was leaving for a trip, and I knew I could not handle staying home alone with my father for several days, so I ran away to a friend's place in Osaka. Before that even began, I got pulled into a drinking night that lasted until morning, and from there the trip turned into a poor but unforgettable little adventure. I had almost no money, so we survived on cheap groceries like bean sprouts, cabbage, and pork belly. We cooked simple meals, stayed up late, went out to see factory lights, ate crepes in the middle of the night, and looked over the city from the mountain. It was messy, cheap, and honestly one of the most fun times. Then everything got worse in the most ridiculous way. I drank too much, lost my memory, wandered around without my phone or wallet, and ended up in a hospital after a group of school kids called an ambulance. My family came all the way to Osaka to get me. Later, when my lost phone was found, I went back to Osaka again with my mother, drank beer on the train, picked up my things, ate grilled meat, sang karaoke, and barely made the last train home. This song turns that whole wild weekend into a bright 1990s Japanese reggae story. It is about being broke, making bad decisions, being saved by people who care about you, and somehow ending up with a memory that still makes you laugh.
